Cristi Burkeen
Instruments: Violin, Cello, Viola, & Uke
Cristi Burkeen has been a professional violist and violinist for more than 20 years. She has performed with the Murfreesboro and Huntsville Symphonies, played in various string quartets and has experience playing over 100 weddings and events. In addition, she currently is a member of the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra.
Cristi has taught private music lessons for beginning to advanced violin and viola for 13 years, and has also branched out to teach beginner to intermediate cello and intermediate to advanced ukulele. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Viola performance from Middle Tennessee State University.
Cristi specializes in fashioning her lessons to the individual’s learning style. Her concentrations include; Note reading and rhythm, theory, technique, posture and relaxation (infusing some elements of Alexander Technique), intonation, ear-training, and 3-octave scale study to prepare her students for Mid-State, orchestral, and college auditions. Her pedagogical strengths include orchestral, string duo, trio and quartet or other chamber ensemble, and solo performance in various styles of music from Classical to Pop, Rock, and Fiddle.
